The North Middle School Orchestra Department is made up of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. This outstanding program consists of two Orchestras – a sixth grade beginners orchestra and a seventh and eighth grade combined orchestra. Students continually work toward proficiency on higher level skills that will prepare them for participation in the High School Orchestra.
SIXTH GRADE ORCHESTRA
The Sixth Grade Orchestra program begins the summer after fifth grade with a six-week lesson program. The sixth grade curriculum focuses on forming strong fundamental skills. The skills are aligned with our district and state standards in order to create well rounded musicians. The orchestra rehearses daily and each student is expected to receive weekly lesson. The orchestra studies and performs literature appropriate for the beginning level. Performances include annual Winter and Spring Concerts, February Pop’s Concert and a Recital.
SEVENTH & EIGHTH GRADE ORCHESTRA
The Seventh & Eighth Grade Orchestra offers a music program committed to developing quality string musicians. The Orchestra meets daily, and each student is expected to receive a weekly lesson. Students are encouraged to skills in order to be able to perform a diverse selection of Orchestra literature that is of the highest quality for their intermediate level. Musicianship is an emphasis of their learning with additional performance opportunities to enhance their growth. Performances include annual Winter and Spring concerts, February Pops Concert and Solo & Ensemble Festival.
