Orlando Trip, Food allergy update

Hello Orlando Trip Families,

We are nearing our adventure and have some information and reminders to share with you. Please read carefully as these are very important details while you are packing and preparing for the trip!

A reminder that students need appropriate concert attire packed for our performances. Concert attire includes:

Girls: Black dress tops, conservative necklines, black full or knee length skirts, or black dress slacks, black tights (NO patterns), black closed-toed dress shoes.

Guys: Black dress pants, black socks, black dress shoes, black long sleeved button-down DRESS shirt (NO tuxes, no ties).

Regarding our departure day: All students need to meet in the auditorium at noon for a brief meeting. Loading will begin shortly after and we will depart at 1pm. Remember to have students put any necessary items in their carry-on as they will NOT have access to their suitcases until we arrive in Orlando.

Due to students with extreme food allergies, all bus 1 members, Mr. Woger’s bus (listed below), will be provided with snacks from a prescribed list of safe foods. If students on bus 1 want to bring additional snacks they will need to select items from the following list per our district nurse:

Candy: Skittles, Starburst, Laffy Taffy, Dum Dums, Dots, Swedish Fish, “Enjoy Life” brand chocolate

Chips: Rold Gold Pretzels (plain twists, plain sticks, honey wheat, rods, thins), Tostitos plain: chips, rounds, dippers, rolls, Frit-o-Lay plain Fritos

Crackers: Plain Triscuits, Plain Wheat Thins, Town House Original Crackers, Ritz Original Crackers, Saltines

Cookies: Original Oreos, Vanilla Oreos, “Enjoy Life” brands-all cookies

We will be checking all carry-ons of bus 1 members to make sure snacks are approved so please be sure all food is easily accessible for a director to approve prior to getting on the bus.  Bus 1 members should plan on eating lunch prior to leaving at 1:00 and will not be allowed to bring food from outside stops back on the bus. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping our students safe so all can enjoy our trip!

A reminder that if students want to bring DVD’s for the bus ride they need to be PG-13 or under and movies will be selected at the directors’ discretion.

Lastly, it is very important to remind students that the Florida sun is VERY intense! Please tell them they will need sunscreen (even if they “never burn”) and should reapply it every few hours. The heat can also cause dehydration so encourage them to drink lots of water (not just soda) and to take breaks if they are feeling overheated. Baseball caps or hats with a brim, and sunglasses are also recommended.

We are looking forward to an awesome adventure filled with excitement, joy, and music!
